We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead a dedicated Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children Team based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished social work leader to manage and support a team delivering high-quality services to young people transitioning into adulthood.

Working within Corporate Parenting Services, you will provide operational leadership, professional supervision, and practice oversight, ensuring that children and young people receive effective, child-centered support that promotes positive outcomes and safeguards their welfare.

What You Will Do

Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and support a team of social workers, senior social workers, senior practitioners, and support staff.

Practice Oversight: Ensure high standards of social work practice through reflective supervision, auditing, quality assurance activities, and performance management.

Safeguarding and Corporate Parenting: Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and best practice guidance.

Case Allocation and Service Delivery: Oversee workload management and case allocation to ensure timely, effective, and child-centered interventions.

Service Improvement: Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of operational priorities.

Partnership Working: Develop and maintain effective relationships with partner agencies, stakeholders, and professionals to support positive outcomes.

Performance Management: Monitor team performance, support continuous professional development, and foster a culture of accountability and learning.

Resource and Risk Management: Support effective budget monitoring, resource management, and risk assessment to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
• Previous experience supervising, managing, or leading social work teams.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, corporate parenting responsibilities, and statutory frameworks.
• Experience driving service improvement and managing change.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and partner agencies.

• Strong understanding of performance management, quality assurance, and risk management processes.
