Job Description

Job Title: Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Cambridgeshire, UK
Salary: £39.00 Per Hour (Umbrella)
Type: Full Time / Temporary Contract

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a well-established Family Safeguarding Team based in Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner with previous Family Safeguarding experience and a strong background in court work. You will manage a varied statutory caseload, working with children and families to deliver effective interventions that promote positive outcomes while receiving support from an experienced management team within a collaborative working environment.

What You Will Do

  • Complete statutory visits for Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children in Care (CIC) cases.
  • Manage a varied caseload including CIN, CP and CIC cases, with some cases progressing through Public Law Outline (PLO) or Section 31 Care Proceedings.
  • Prepare high-quality court reports, parenting assessments and risk assessments to support legal proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings with support from Senior Practitioners or Team Managers where required.
  • Chair Children in Need (CIN) meetings and Core Group Meetings.
  • Attend Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) and Review Child Protection Conferences (RCPC), producing clear and comprehensive conference reports.
  • Contribute to the team’s duty rota, responding to safeguarding concerns and statutory responsibilities.
  • Assess and manage risk effectively to ensure children remain safe and appropriate interventions are implemented.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families and partner agencies to deliver child-centred practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Previous experience working within a Family Safeguarding Team is essential.
  • Significant experience of court work and care proceedings.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory children’s social care legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to complete high-quality assessments, court reports and statutory documentation.
  • DFE template must be fully completed and submitted with every CV.
