Job Description

Job Title: Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Cambridgeshire, UK
Salary: £39.00 Per Hour (Umbrella)
Type: Temporary / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a Family Safeguarding Team based in Cambridgeshire. This role requires a skilled practitioner with previous experience working within a Family Safeguarding service and strong court experience.

You will manage a complex caseload involving Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children in Care (CIC), including cases progressing through Public Law Outline (PLO) and Care Proceedings. You will complete high-quality assessments, court reports, and risk assessments while working collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

What You Will Do

Statutory Social Work: Complete statutory visits and manage cases across Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children in Care (CIC).

Family Safeguarding Practice: Work within a Family Safeguarding approach, supporting children and families through effective assessment, intervention, and partnership working.

Court Experience: Manage cases involving Public Law Outline (PLO) and Section 31 Care Proceedings, completing court reports, risk assessments, and parenting assessments.

Court Attendance: Attend court hearings with support from Senior Practitioners or Team Managers where required.

Child Protection: Chair Child in Need meetings, Core Group meetings, and contribute to Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) and Review Child Protection Conferences (RCPC).

Risk Management: Assess and manage risk effectively, ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing remain central to all decision-making.

Case Management: Maintain accurate records, complete professional reports, and manage a varied caseload effectively.

Duty Responsibilities: Support the team duty rota and provide timely responses to safeguarding needs.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Previous experience working within a Family Safeguarding Team.
  • Must have court experience, including PLO and Care Proceedings.
  • Experience managing CIN, CP, and CIC cases.
  • Ability to complete court reports, risk assessments, and parenting assessments.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex safeguarding cases effectively.
