Job Description

Job Title: Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £39.00 Per Hour (Umbrella)
Type: Ongoing / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join a dedicated Family Safeguarding Team based in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner with previous Family Safeguarding and court experience to work within a supportive service, delivering high-quality interventions that safeguard children and support families. You will manage a varied statutory caseload while working collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a caseload of Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Children in Care (CIC) cases.
  • Complete statutory visits, assessments, and care planning in line with statutory requirements.
  • Chair Children in Need and Core Group meetings.
  • Prepare parenting assessments, risk assessments, and high-quality court reports.
  • Manage cases progressing through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process and Section 31 Care Proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings with support from Senior Practitioners and Team Managers where required.
  • Participate in the team’s duty rota.
  • Attend Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to manage risk and safeguard children effectively.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Previous experience working within a Family Safeguarding Team.
  • Essential court experience, including PLO and Care Proceedings.
  • Strong assessment, report-writing, and risk management skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex statutory caseload within Children’s Services.
