Type: Ongoing / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Family Help Team within Children’s Services in Central Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner with substantial post-qualification experience who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families. Working within a supportive hybrid environment, you will manage a varied caseload, build meaningful relationships with families, and deliver high-quality interventions from assessment through to long-term planning.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a diverse caseload of children and families requiring statutory social work intervention.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, formulate care plans, and deliver effective child-centred interventions.
  • Undertake direct work with children to understand their views, experiences, and individual needs.
  • Progress Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court cases in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
  • Chair and participate in multi-agency meetings, working collaboratively with partner organisations.
  • Build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory guidance, policies, and timescales.
  • Contribute to reducing the need for children to enter local authority care through timely and effective intervention.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Minimum five years’ post-qualification experience within Children’s Social Care.
  • Experience managing Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court proceedings.
  • Court experience is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of children’s legislation, safeguarding, and statutory guidance.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience chairing multi-agency meetings and working collaboratively with partner agencies.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of practice.
