Job Description
Job Title: Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner – 0-25 Disabilities
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Barnet, UK
Salary: £37.54 Per Hour (Limited/Umbrella) / £27.32 Per Hour (PAYE)
Type: Temporary / Full Time
We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner to join a Children’s Disability Team in Barnet. The role involves working with children and families in complex situations, managing higher levels of risk, and providing expert social work practice within a statutory children’s social care setting.
What you will do
The role offers hybrid working, with approximately 1–2 days per week in the office alongside visits.
Complex Social Work: Provide an effective integrated social work service, responding to complex situations and supporting the needs of children and their families.
Safeguarding and Permanence: Assess, plan, implement and evaluate safeguarding and permanence measures for children with complex needs.
Risk Management: Manage higher levels of risk within complex cases, using professional judgement and expert practice.
Leadership and Support: Support and mentor less experienced social workers, sharing expertise and promoting effective practice.
Specialist Practice: Take a lead role in a specialist area of work in line with departmental policies and procedures.
Deputising: Deputise for the line manager when required or when delegated to undertake line management responsibilities.
Requirements
- Substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory Children’s Social Care setting.
- Experience working within a Children’s Disability Team is essential.
- Experience managing complex situations and higher levels of risk.
- Ability to provide expert social work practice and support less experienced social workers.
- Practice Educator Award is desirable.
