We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join a well-established Kinship Assessment Team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social work professional with experience in kinship assessments and court work to play a key role in supporting high-quality practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

Working within a dedicated and supportive service, you will provide professional guidance, practice leadership, and quality assurance to ensure assessments are robust, evidence-based, and child-focused.

What You Will Do

Kinship Assessments: Support the delivery of high-quality kinship assessments, including Form K Kinship Fostering Assessments and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Assessments.

Practice Leadership: Provide professional support, guidance, and mentoring to Social Workers and Senior Social Workers within the team.

Quality Assurance: Review and quality assure assessments, reports, and support plans to ensure they are evidence-based, outcome-focused, and completed within required timescales.

Court Work: Contribute to court-related processes and provide expertise in the preparation and review of court documentation.

Professional Advice: Offer specialist advice and consultation to colleagues and professionals regarding kinship assessments and family-based care arrangements.

Safeguarding and Permanence Planning: Support decision-making processes that promote safe, stable, and nurturing family placements for children.

Continuous Improvement: Promote reflective practice, learning, and service development to enhance the quality and effectiveness of assessments.

Multi-Agency Working: Develop effective partnerships with internal teams, legal services, carers, and partner agencies to support positive outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration.
  • Significant experience undertaking kinship assessments.
  • Experience of court work and preparing high-quality assessment reports.
  • Strong knowledge of Form K Assessments and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Assessments.
  • Experience providing practice support, mentoring, or leadership within a social work setting.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
