Type: Temporary / Full Time (37 Hours) / Hybrid Working

We are currently recruiting for a Family Help Disability Advisor to join a supportive and innovative Family Advice & Support Team based in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people, and families, particularly those with disabilities and additional needs.

Working within Children’s Services, you will assess family wellbeing, provide practical advice and short-term interventions, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.

What you will do

• Assess the wellbeing needs of children, young people, and their families, with a focus on disability and additional needs.
• Deliver targeted short-term interventions to support families and improve outcomes.
• Provide advice, guidance, and information relating to disability support services.
• Empower families to build on their strengths and access appropriate community and statutory services.
• Develop positive working relationships with children, families, and partner organizations.
• Work collaboratively with Social Workers and multi-agency professionals to ensure coordinated support.
• Recognize safeguarding concerns and escalate risks appropriately.
• Maintain accurate case records using case management systems.
• Promote a strengths-based and family-centered approach in all aspects of practice.
• Ensure families receive timely and appropriate support to prevent the need for more intensive statutory intervention.

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children, young people, and families, particularly those with disabilities or additional needs.
• Strong understanding of the challenges affecting children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.
• Experience building effective relationships with families and professionals from a range of backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Competent using Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
• Ability to identify safeguarding concerns and work effectively with partner agencies.
• Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
