Children’s Social Worker – Child Protection Team – North Yorkshire Council

North Yorkshire Council is looking for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team within the Children & Young People’s Service. Based at Mercury House in Richmond, this office-based assignment offers the opportunity to make a real difference to vulnerable children and families in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a varied caseload of complex child protection matters.
• Undertake child protection enquiries, statutory assessments, and court work.
• Develop care plans and interventions using a strengths-based, systemic approach.
• Engage with children, families, and professionals in line with North Yorkshire’s practice model (systemic principles, Signs of Safety, and Family Seeing methodology).
• Collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners and internal colleagues to safeguard children.

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience as a Social Worker.
• Extensive experience within child protection and court proceedings.
• Social Work England registered.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of child care legislation and safeguarding practices.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Additional Information:

• Office-based role at Mercury House, Richmond (DL10 4JX).
• Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:30 – 17:00 and Friday, 08:30 – 16:30.
• Inside IR35.
