Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Team Manager – Support and Protection
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Isle of Wight, UK
Salary: £42.00 per hour – Limited/Umbrella
Type: Temporary / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Team Manager to support and lead a team of social workers delivering high-quality safeguarding services to children, young people and their families.

The role will support the Team Manager in ensuring statutory responsibilities are met, promoting best practice and contributing to effective supervision, decision-making and service improvement. The successful candidate will oversee a caseload, support social workers and help ensure compliance with statutory duties relating to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.

What you will do

Team Support and Leadership: Support the Team Manager in leading and supporting social workers to deliver high-quality safeguarding services.

Caseload Oversight: Oversee a caseload and manage a small number of complex cases, ensuring appropriate oversight and effective decision-making.

Supervision: Supervise team members as directed, including Newly Qualified Social Workers and alternatively qualified staff within the team.

Safeguarding: Support the delivery of statutory responsibilities relating to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.

Statutory Compliance: Help ensure statutory duties are met and that practice remains compliant with relevant requirements.

Multi-Agency Working: Work collaboratively with professionals including Police, Health and CAMHS to maintain positive working relationships and effective partnership working.

Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators and contribute to compliance, best practice and service improvement.

Management Support: Represent the Team Manager at meetings when required and provide appropriate support to the wider team.

What you will need

  • A recognized Social Work qualification.
  • Experience supporting and supervising social work staff.
  • Experience of safeguarding practice involving children and families.
  • Knowledge of statutory responsibilities relating to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and support effective decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively with partner agencies and professionals.
