Job Title: Social Worker – Front Line

Type: Full Time / Temporary
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a frontline Children’s Services team in Hillingdon. This is an opportunity for a qualified practitioner with strong experience in child and family social work, safeguarding, assessment and risk management.
You will manage a varied and increasingly complex caseload, working with children and families to assess needs, manage risk and develop effective plans that promote positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with families, colleagues and partner agencies while maintaining a strong focus on professional standards, evidence-based decision-making and the safety and wellbeing of children.

What You Will Do
Case Management: Manage a varied caseload, including complex cases involving safeguarding concerns, with an appropriate level of professional autonomy.
Assessment and Intervention: Undertake comprehensive assessments, identify needs and risks, and develop appropriate plans and interventions to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
Safeguarding: Assess and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns, taking appropriate action to manage risk and promote the safety and wellbeing of children.
Risk Management: Analyse complex information, identify risks and develop evidence-based safety plans and interventions.
Direct Work: Interview and engage with children, families and relevant professionals in a range of settings, including homes, schools and other appropriate venues.
Multi-Agency Working: Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, including police, health professionals, voluntary organisations and other relevant services.
Legal Framework: Apply knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework relating to children and families when undertaking assessments, interventions and decision-making.
Reports and Recording: Produce clear, accurate and high-quality reports, recording professional judgements, decisions and analysis appropriately.
Court Work: Prepare reports for court proceedings and provide professional evidence where required in Care or Private Order proceedings.
Professional Practice: Maintain a reflective approach to practice, recognise professional limitations and seek appropriate advice and supervision when required.
Equality and Inclusion: Recognise and appropriately challenge discriminatory practices while promoting equality, respect and inclusive practice.
Professional Development: Maintain professional registration, comply with relevant professional standards and keep knowledge and practice up to date with current evidence and developments within social work.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- A minimum of two years’ post-qualifying social work experience.
- Experience in child and family social work, including safeguarding and complex case management.
- Strong understanding of the legal framework relating to children and families.
- Strong assessment, analysis and risk management skills.
- Ability to make evidence-based professional decisions.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce high-quality reports.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies.
- Ability to work with an appropriate level of autonomy while recognising when professional advice or support is required.
- Knowledge and application of the Professional Capabilities Framework at Experienced Social Worker level.
- Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) Stage 1 and 2 is essential. External candidates may be supported to complete this training where the opportunity has not previously been available, subject to the relevant conditions.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant social work discipline is desirable.
- A current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for work purposes are desirable.
- Enhanced DBS clearance is required, unless the candidate is registered with the DBS Update Service.
