Job Description

Job Title: Qualified Social Worker – Fostering Team

Salary: £38.43 Per Hour Umbrella
Type: Temporary / Full Time 

We are seeking an experienced Registered Social Worker to join a Fostering Team in Usk, Monmouthshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with experience of working with foster careers to provide supervision, support and guidance in accordance with statutory requirements and fostering standards.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with foster careers to promote the welfare and wellbeing of children in their care, while ensuring that statutory responsibilities, reviews, training and support requirements are effectively managed.

What You Will Do

Foster Career Supervision: Provide regular supervision and support to foster careers in accordance with statutory requirements.

Annual Reviews: Ensure foster career’s annual reviews are completed and kept up to date.

Meeting Attendance: Support foster careers to attend relevant meetings, including Child Looked After Reviews and child protection case conferences where necessary.

Training and Development: Ensure foster careers undertake appropriate and relevant training based on their fostering responsibilities, development needs and the needs of the children in their care.

Foster Career Records: Ensure foster career diaries are maintained to a good standard to support appropriate recording and information sharing.

Matching: Provide advice regarding the suitability of foster careers to care for specific children during matching meetings.

Statutory Checks: Ensure statutory checks are completed and updated as required.

Supporting Children: Support foster careers to meet the needs of children in their care, including managing behavior positively and ensuring children’s welfare remains paramount.

Support Groups: Contribute to the delivery of foster career support groups.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.
  • Relevant Social Work qualification.
  • Experience of working within a fostering team is desirable.
  • Experience of working directly with foster careers.
  • Ability to provide effective supervision and support to foster careers.
  • Understanding of statutory requirements relating to fostering.
  • Ability to support foster careers in meeting the needs and safeguarding the welfare of children.
  • Ability to work effectively with foster careers and other professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively within a hybrid working arrangement.
  • Must live within a 1-hour commute of the work location.
