Job Description

Job Title: Advanced Social Work Practitioner – Families First Team
Specialism: Children’s Services
Location: Bexleyheath, Kent, UK
Salary: £30.18 Per Hour
Type: Temporary / Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join the Families First Team based in Bexleyheath, Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled practitioner to work with children and families requiring statutory intervention while managing complex cases and providing professional leadership within a supportive Children’s Services environment. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality safeguarding practice, supporting colleagues, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a caseload of complex children and families requiring statutory intervention.
  • Undertake high-quality assessments, planning and interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Provide advanced social work practice and professional leadership within the Families First Team.
  • Offer expert safeguarding advice and practice oversight to colleagues where appropriate.
  • Build effective relationships with children, families and partner agencies to deliver coordinated support.
  • Ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare accurate assessments, reports and case recordings within agreed timescales.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to support effective decision-making and service delivery.
  • Promote high standards of professional practice and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant experience working within Children’s Services and safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory children’s social care legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience managing complex child protection and family support cases.
  • Ability to provide professional leadership, mentoring and practice guidance.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational and case management abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-centered practice.
