Senior Social Worker – Safeguarding (Children’s) – Worcestershire County Council
Worcestershire County Council, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, is seeking experienced Senior Social Workers to join their Safeguarding teams across Malvern & Worcester. Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with children subject to Child Protection Plans, addressing identified safeguarding concerns.
- Chair core group meetings and assess family progress in reducing risk.
- Collaborate closely with Specialist Family Support teams and multi-disciplinary partners including substance misuse, domestic abuse, and emotional wellbeing services.
- Undertake comprehensive parenting and risk assessments to inform planning.
- Support families through PLO pre-proceedings and divert from court where appropriate.
- Initiate and progress care proceedings when required, adhering to 26-week timescales and focusing on securing permanence for children.
- Engage with Family Group Conference coordinators and kinship teams to promote family-led solutions wherever possible.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience (for higher rate).
- Strong background in child protection, safeguarding, and court work.
- Excellent assessment, decision-making, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary and supportive team environment.
Additional Information:
- Based in Malvern & Worcester areas.
- Full-time: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30).
- Inside IR35.
Pay Rates:
- £33.30 umbrella/ltd (5+ years post-qualified).
- £30.57 umbrella/ltd (under 5 years post-qualified)
